INCORPORATING PANTONE'S COLORS OF THE YEAR INTO YOUR WEDDING
Every year Pantone announces a universal “Color of the Year.” For the year 2021 the Color Institute announced two colors of the year; PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Or in simpler terms, light grey and yellow.
I think we can all agree the past year hasn't been easy, so according to Pantone this color combo is “conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.” The unity of these two colors is proving that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Since these colors are at the top of the 2021 trend list you will start to see them in many different forms; including weddings! Here are a few ways to incorporate Pantone’s two colors of the year into your big day.
This could come in the form of bouquets, centerpieces, archways, or a flower petal aisle. Sunflowers, calla lilies, marigolds, tulips, and daffodils are all great choices to incorporate one half of Pantone’s colors of the year. Tie in the second half with a grey ribbon wrapped around the bouquet.
Printed materials are a simple way to add the 2021 colors of the year. Invitations, menus, thank you cards, and even calligraphy will show the beautiful marriage of these two colors. You could even make this a fun DIY project!
This can be an alcoholic beverage or a nonalcoholic beverage for the kiddos to enjoy too! Classic lemonade is a refreshing family-friendly choice that will help tie yellow into your wedding. Some cocktail options could be mimosas, yellow birds or lemon drop martinis. Check out Cocktail Flow for some yellow drink choices and recipes!
These two colors are perfect for bridesmaid dresses. Grey dresses will tie in nicely with a more modern and chic theme while a pale yellow bridesmaid look can set the tone for an elegant summer soirée. These colors look so good together you could even have bridesmaids alternate between them if you’re feeling bold!
This could also include the groom as well! Grey suits look so dapper and it's a great way to include the color scheme in your wedding. A tie or pocket square also allows for a subtle accent piece whether it be yellow or grey.
You name it, and I’m sure it will come in either PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray or PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating. Balloons, feathers, twinkly lights, candles, linens, or a backdrop for photos. The decor really allows your personality to shine through, have fun with it!
